Hi, my name is Julia Podwyszyńska. I’m 22 years old and originally from Szczecin, Poland.
I’m currently an international student and I’m in my third year of Graphic Design at the Willem De Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, excitedly seeking internship opportunities. I am a graphic and ceramic artist, and I particularly enjoy creating publications and working with porcelain. Additionally, I’m a proud cat mom to Yoko and caretaker of 29 plants in my rented flat, which has been my home for a year.
Leaving my hometown two years ago was a significant challenge. Initially, applying to an art university in a different country felt like a distant dream, and I often doubted myself. However, I had nothing to lose and decided to trust the process. Now, as I seek an internship, I view this journey as an new opportunity to push my boundaries. I am eager to immerse myself in a new culture, engage with diverse perspectives, and explore the world of Japanese graphic design. I believe this experience will enhance my artistic growth, and I hope to contribute positively in return.
I bring a lot of autonomous creativity and a proactive approach to my work—I like to explore and learn from doing. I appreciate when hard work leads to tangible results. I’m skilled at planning and managing tasks effectively for myself. Collaboration is important to me, and I enjoy mixing ideas with talented individuals (thanks to Pablo for helping with this website!).
My artistic process blends analog and digital tools, guided by theoretical exploration, like philosophy or material experimentation. I like to mix styles and methods in a way to create new storytelling. I take inspiration from culture and everyday life, then focus on the feeling, through music, a photo shoot or video editing. At the end of each project, I archive my work and prepare for the next challenge.
Along with these internships, I would like to gain a general knowledge of the professional world of design and publishing, production and working with another artist-client.
I look forward to the possibility of contributing to your team and learning from the design and art community in Tokyo!
